Mosque Aims & Objectives

The Memorandum of Association for the Southampton Medina Mosque Trust Limited sets out the Objects of the Trust as follows:

“The Trust’s objects (the Objects) are for the benefit of the public in the City of Southampton to:

Promote the Islamic Religion through the provision support and maintenance of:
(a) a Mosque;
(b) provision of Islamic facilities for marriages, funerals, akikah and pastoral care;
(c) a residence for the Imams preaching at any Mosque provided or maintained by the charity;
(d) facilities for the organisation of the Annual Hajj and Zakat collections;
Advance the education of children and young Muslims in the Islamic faith;
Educate the public on Islam;
Provide or assist in the provision of facilities to groups or organisations (including non-Muslim groups or organisations) whose members have need of such social or recreational facilities by reason of their age, youth, infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social circumstances with the object of improving their conditions of life, provided that the provision of such facilities is compatible with the principles of the Islamic religion and the religious activities of the mosque. “
